| Sampling Factors: |
Location (Not Relevant: Although there are different locations for software development (1 on customer site, 2 in OU), but there is no process difference since they all follow the same processes after tailoring.)
Customer: There are different customers (P1: government transportation agency, P2 & P3 internal customer). Government transportation agency project (P1) is project-based development which follows all standard processes without tailoring, while P2 & P3 are product-based development which have tailoring regarding to project kickoff and engineering process. This creates process difference in IPM, PP, RD, and VAL process area.
Size (Not Relevant: Although projects are with different sizes, but there is no process difference for different sizes since they all follow same processes after tailoring.)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: All 3 projects are within Technology R&D Center, there is no significant process differences after tailoring.)
Type of Work (Not Relevant: There are 2 types of work: project-based development and product development. Project development faces external customer with signed contract, while product development faces internal customers (Marketing Department, Technology Support Department, and Project Planning Department) without signed contract. This creates process differences which are the same as described in “Customer” sampling factor and has been covered by Customer.) |
