Location (Not Relevant: All the projects are in the same location.)
Customer: There are two types of customer: external and internal. For external projects, the requirements are from external costumers, and the product will be delivered to customers based on contracts; for internal projects, the requirements are from different potential customers, the requirement owners will compile those requirements as product requirements. The purpose of project is to build a base product and sale it to potential customers with minimum customizations.
Size (Not Relevant: Projects are in similar sizes, and follow the same processes.)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: The R&D department is a flat project-based organization. There are several teams in the department working on different type of applications or modules. The teams will support each other dynamically, therefore the boundary of teams is not clear. Team leaders are senior members, and they also server the role of project manager. The new projects will be assigned to teams based on their specialties. All the teams are following the same processes.)
