Sampling Factors:	Location (Not Relevant: Only the location of Chengdu is considered) Customer (Not Relevant: Only one type of customer, i.e., university/colleges.) Size (Not Relevant: Sizes of projects are comparable and do not affect the development process) Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: Projects are executed in the same organization structure, i.e. R&D Center, Quality and Test management, and product development.) Type of Work: New Product Development projects and Upgrade Development projects. Hypothesis test was performed by evaluating process performance in terms of defect density and normalized project effort, against two project types of new product development and version-based development. The results show that there are significant differences between these two types of projects
