| Sampling Factors: |
Location (Not Relevant: SENTEL software development groups reside in the Dahlgren and Richmond, VA and Dallas, TX facilities. The same organizational policies, processes and templates, and management guide the work performed across the OU regardless of physical location. Therefore the two geographic locations covered in this appraisal do not impact the way work is performed.)
Customer (Not Relevant: SENTEL has customers in government, military and commercial organizations. Some customer required tools are used and customer required meetings are held but these support existing processes rather than change the way work is performed. After a careful analysis of these minor differences, it was determined that the varied customer base had insignificant impact on work performed and was therefore not a relevant sampling factor.)
Size (Not Relevant: SENTEL projects range from 5 to 21 FTE. Each project has similar roles regardless of size and follows organization wide policies and processes. The number of personnel per project was analyzed and it was determined that they do not drive differences in the way work is performed.)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: All business areas developing software report under the SENTEL Senior VP and COO who is also the sponsor for this appraisal. Organizational structure has no impact on the way work is performed)
Type of Work (Not Relevant: This appraisal covers software development across SENTEL so type of work does not impact the way work is performed across the OU.)
Entire OU is the sample: The sampling factors listed do not create meaningful differences in the way work is performed in the OU. To comply with SAS limitations and following CMMI guidance for an OU with no relevant sampling factors, this factor was created. |
