Location (Not Relevant: All project teams are located in 2 buildings, approximately 250m apart on Blackfriars road, and this is not a factor in how projects are conducted.)
Customer (Not Relevant: The customers for all projects are internal to TfL and the ultimate end users are the general public. All projects are allocated a sponsor from one of 4 portfolios, but this does not affect the way projects are conducted.)
Size (Not Relevant: PPD are only allocated projects > £5m and all projects over this threshold are managed in the same way (smaller projects may be managed in a different way but are managed outside PPD, so are outside the scope of this appraisal).)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: PPD is organised into 3 delivery portfolios, but apart from Tech & Systems (entirely non-civils projects), projects can, and do, move between portfolios to balance the management load, so organisational structure does not in itself change the way projects are conducted.)
Type of Work: There are 2 types of work in PPD, civils and non-civils. The main difference between them in process terms is the approach to estimating and in the use of internal suppliers (although as SAM is not in scope this is probably not relevant for this appraisal). |
