| Sampling Factors: |
Location (Not Relevant: All project activities are performed in a single location (Madrid), so location is not a relevant factor in this case.)
Customer (Not Relevant: Customer and relationship with them is not part of the project characterization calculation and all projects are managed the same independently of the customer or type of customer. All software engineering activities and the artifacts produced or tools used are the same for every project in the organizational unit and there is no customer interference on that. So customer is not a relevant factor for this organizational unit.)
Size: The methodology distinguishes between two kind of projects based on their size: Short Lifecycle Projects (projects between 3 and 9 months) and Long Lifecycle Projects more than 9 months).
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: All projects are managed the same independently of the organitational structure, the three departments managed their projects in the same way. All software engineering activities and the artifacts produced or tools used are the same for every project for each department. So organitational structure is not a relevant factor for this organizational unit.)
Type of Work: The type of work is a sampling factor because the quality system describes different tools, methods and documentation to be used depending on the type of work (Development and Maintenance). |
| Sampling Factor Values: |
Short Lifecycle (Size): Projects with development effort between 3 and 9 months.
Long Lifecycle (Size): Projects with development effort greater than 9 months.
Development (Type of Work): This work implements a new software application from inception to deployment, including requirements, analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation and management areas.
Maintenance (Type of Work): This work implements software enhancement, corrective measures, defects repair, in a software application already available and developed. |
