Sampling Factors:	Location (Not Relevant: Only one location (Nanjing) exists.) Customer (Not Relevant: The company provide same products (with different models) for all customers that are in same domain. The products are developed following same standards and processes, both hardware and software.) Size (Not Relevant: Project development and management in the OU do not take size as an influencing factor because of two reasons: (1) Size of projects is not very much different. (2) 3 project types have more influence on the project implementation. It can be roughly represented by factor “Project Type”.) Organizational Structure: The development staff are divided into 4 teams based on the product lines. Process implementation may vary in different team. Type of Work (Not Relevant: All works are organized as project that creates a new or enhanced product model.) Project Type: Projects are categorized into A, B, and C 3 types mainly based on whether the product model is new or enhanced, and whether new technologies are applied. Process implementation may vary for different project type. Most projects of this OU are C-Type.
Sampling Factor Values:	Development Team #1 (Organizational Structure): This team is responsible for EDCU project development for domestic customers. Development Team #2 (Organizational Structure): This team is responsible for motor driver project development. This team will not be involved in the appraisal because it is a very small team and is in a product line with less business influence. Development Team #3 (Organizational Structure): This team is responsible for subway screen door project development. Development Team #4 (Organizational Structure): This team is responsible for EDCU project development for foreign customers. A (Project Type): projects that create a new product model using new architecture, new materials, and new technologies, with significant influence on the business. B (Project Type): projects that enhance a product model using new materials and new technologies to apparently improve its performance. C (Project Type): projects that create a derived model based on current product model with same technologies.
