Location (Not Relevant: Location is not a relevant sampling factor. All of the primary development and service work conducted by the E30 Division is performed at their NSWC-PCD location in Panama City, FL. Excursions by E30 personnel away from their Panama City location are for temporary deployment, installation, and maintenance activities at customer sites.)
Customer (Not Relevant: Customer is not a relevant sampling factor. There is no difference in the way development work and service delivery is performed by E30 personnel based on the customer set.)
Size (Not Relevant: Size is not a relevant sampling factor. The size of the contracts and service level agreements executed by E30 Division personnel is not a discriminant in the way that work is performed.)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: Organizational Structure is not a relevant sampling factor. The E30 Division is administratively divided into three Branches: E31, E32, and E34. The work loads performed by the E30 Division are apportioned at the E30 Division level and among the three Branches. Each of the Branches has a primary focus for its activities; however, those activities are varied, and the processes followed are specified at the E30 Division level.)
Type of Work: The Type of Work is a relevant sampling factor for both the DEV and SVC basic units. The two principal divisions of the 13 E30 basic units are Engineering Development and Services provider. The Type of Work for both DEV and SVC breaks down into two groupings: (1) The LCAC Program, and (2) All other project and work unit activities not a part of the LCAC Program. The projects and work units in the LCAC Program have additional Program-level processes beyond the E30 Division ones.
Development/Services: The principal division of the 13 basic units in the E30 Division is Engineering Development and Services provider. This partitioning is the basis for dividing the 13 basic units into 7 basic units associated with the CMMI-DEV appraisal and 6 basic units associated with the CMMI-SVC appraisal. |
