Location (Not Relevant: Development activities are conducted at one location in Jiangsu province, China.)
Customer: There are two types of customer categories such as external company and internal stakeholder groups (Advertising department and management Department). Therefore, the organization uses different types of standard processes based on the types of customer categories from the engineering process viewpoint.
Size (Not Relevant: All projects follow the same processes with approved tailoring. Size does not alter the life cycle model or project process within OU, since all projects are small to medium (sizes are less than 10 people and durations are also less than 4 month); therefore all projects use the same process regardless of size.)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: Small group organized under one director. All projects used the consistent process and same quality system independently of the organizational structure.)
Type of Work: This is the key distinguishing factor among the projects. There are 2 types of work/project that affect which process is followed for all development work from the project management process viewpoint. |

External Company (Customer): The customer development requirements are collected from specific customer requests for their own purposes. (This is the organizational standard development methodology)
Internal Stakeholder (Customer): The customer requirements are collected from existing customer’s feedback, internal department suggestions, market trend analysis reports and known defects from previous releases for research purpose mainly.
R&D Project (Type of Work): Projects/works do not have a contractual customer, so they target future market development. They may be planned by proposals from the advertising department, or by some potential external customers. The typical output may be that a product prototype or enhanced and updated functions which are developed for future usage.
System Development project (Type of Work): All software development projects contractually based on specific customers. (This is the organizational standard project management methodology) |
