Location (Not Relevant: All employees of the organizational unit reside in the same geographic location and all development activities are conducted in the same way with approved tailoring in Tianjin, China.)
Customer (Not Relevant: Although OU provides products and systems to 2 types of customers such as e-Learning organization and Railway Bureau in China (main customers are e-Learning organization), works for all customers are performed follow the same processes with approved tailoring. Hence customer is not relevant sampling factor)
Size (Not Relevant: Even the smallest Basic Units follow the same processes that the largest Basic Units follow. Tailoring is applied primarily to scale the work products to the project needs and objectives; not affecting the basic steps of the standard process.)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: All projects are conducted within the one division, have the same basic and similar structure with project manager, developers, supporting members, and share the same organization standard processes without substantial tailoring. Consequently organizational structure does not cause significant variations in the performance of processes.)
Type of Work: Type of Work: There are two different types of works/projects; “New Development”, “Maintenance Work”. The major differences between these 2 types of projects are applying method of lifecycle model in engineering processes.
Application Domain: There are two application domains, “e-learning software” for training center and “network emulator software” for wireless communication, which both have some impacts to development environments, procedures and templates used by the development teams respectively in the OU. |
