Dev – WF: This subgroup is responsible for software development projects using waterfall life cycle model. These projects takes a “Straight line” path. The different phases are explicitly recognized and the subsequent phase starts only after completion of the previous phase. Once the requirements are signed off, they should be stable throughout the project. Any changes to requirements will be an extraneous and unplanned activity, which will increase the schedule and cost.

Dev – Inc: This subgroup is responsible for software development projects using incremental life cycle model. The software is designed, implemented and tested incrementally until the completion. This permits gradual implementation of the software in small increments and reduces implementation risk. Completion of design for a module may result in change in baselined design and may also impact some already completed code, where in design document will be updated.
