Sampling Factors: Location (Not Relevant: The scope of appraisal is only Bangalore location)
Customer (Not Relevant: All development projects are executed for various US customers. Organizational processes are implemented for all projects .Cutomer specific requirements are implemented, in addition to , organization process requirements. E.G. Customer specific status report is prepared in addition to Org process status report.)
Size (Not Relevant: Project Team size are between 5-17 staff. There is no variation in the work performed in these projects due to project team size and hence all projects are required to follow same processes irrespective of project team size.)
Organizational Structure (Not Relevant: For Genpact Unit: Endeavour Following functions/activities are carried out at organizational Level. # Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG) # Software Quality Assurance (SQA) part of Quality # Training Function (OT))
Type of Work (Not Relevant: Projects doing Software development work are considered in scope of appraisal. This factor is not relevant.)
Lifecycle: Projects are executed using Waterfall and Agile. Separate processes are defined for all lifecycles. Since sets of processes are different for waterfall and Agile this factor is considered for the sampling factor.Sampling Factor Values: Waterfall (Lifecycle): In “The Waterfall” approach, the whole process of software development is divided into separate process phases. The phases in Waterfall model are: Requirements Analysis, Software Design, Coding and Testing & Maintenance. In a waterfall model, each phase may be completed in its entirety or may over-lap with the next phase considering practical scenarios.
Agile (Lifecycle): Agile methods break tasks into small increments with minimal planning, and do not directly involve long-term planning. Iterations are short time frames (time boxes) that typically last Two weeks. Each iteration involves a team working through a full software development cycle including planning, requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, and acceptance testing when a working product is demonstrated to stakeholders. Multiple iterations may be required to release a product or new featureSubgroups: Agile: Projects following Agile lifecycle
