Size: Size of the projects are classified based on the extent of effort that is required to be spent in the execution. Accordingly different set of process sets get activitated.
Organizational Structure: There are two main business lines: products and services. The approach, life cycle, processes are unique to these business lines.
Type of Work: Two primary types of engagements are observed: Development( which includes design, development and completion); Maintenance( can be simple CRs, sizeable feature enhancements, or bug fixing or testing per se)Sampling Factor Values: Large (Size): Any sprint/complete project life cycle if it exceeds 4000hrs.
Medium (Size): If the project estimated effort is in the range of 1600-4000hrs, then its classified as Medium
Small (Size): If the project estimated effort is below 1600hrs, then its classified as small project
Products (Organizational Structure): Telecom products development and maintenance is carried out predominantly in Century suite.
Services (Organizational Structure): Software services to the external clientele based on the product installation, integration, consulting, software development/maintenance is classified in this category
Development (Type of Work): Those sprints/projects/products which calls for the ownership of design, development & testing for a standalone or in an integration environment.
Maintenance (Type of Work): These set of projects follow a distinct model based on maintenance cycle: such maintenance may be a CR development, feature enhancements, bug fixing, or pure testing engagement either in the products or services environment.Subgroups: Products-Dev-Large: Those base units that have all the 3 characteristics within the space of considered projects after exclusions.
